PEACE    NEWS     &      DEMONSTRATIONS

Saturday demonstrations at various military recruiting stations.
Join NCPG at the corner of Bennets Rd. and Rte. 25A in Setauket.
The group has been meeting resistance and threats from pro-war folks
who have labeled the corner "Coward's Corner." We will
reclaim the street, naming it "Resistance Row" or
"Bring the Troops Home Blvd." (kudos to Brian O.).
Bring your signs, bring your friends.

Note: The Bellport Women In Black will also be holding
their vigil on Saturday from 11-11:45 a.m. on the
corner of Station Rd. and S. Country Road. This group
has been harassed by a local fire dept. member,

Please come out in solidarity with either of these
groups. The occupation in Iraq is becoming such an
obvious failure it is hard to hide it even from the
corporate news. This appears to be making die-hard
bush followers as defensive as possible. Your support
is needed and appreciated.

See you Saturdays...

In Peace,
Karen

More information on the offshore wind park and the Public Scoping Meetings held by the Minerals Management Service is available at our www.WindWorks4LI.org website.

Kindly let us know if you will be attending via e-mail RELI@optonline.net

STAGE  THEATER   REVIEW:      An   Evening  with   Groucho

I  went  to  the  theater,  the  Boulton  Center  for  the  Performing  Arts  on   Saturday,  November  5th,  at   2 PM.    It  was   a  one-man  show
starring  actor-director,  Frank  Ferrante.   Mr.  Ferrante  gave  an   amazing  performance.    It  was  like  actually  meeting   Groucho  Marx,  the
legendary  comedian.    A   good   marriage  between   entertainment  and  education,  that's  Frank   Ferrante's  impersonation of  Groucho.   You
learn  about  Groucho's  life   and  his   brothers  (Chico, Harpo, Zeppo, and Gummo).    You  experience  the  magic  of  Groucho's  wit  and  humor
come  alive  through  Ferrante's  performance.    Highly  recommended!     Don't  miss  "An  Evening  with  Groucho"  starring   Frank  Ferrante.

To subscribe, visit http://www.unitedforpeace.org/email

NO NUKES! NO WARS!
End War Profiteering! Support Indigenous Rights!

ACTION IDEAS
Based on your group's capacity and background, you could organize anything:

    * marches
    * civil disobedience
    * citizen’s inspections
    * events that promote the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty Commitments Act
(H. Res. 373) (http://www.august6.org/hr_373)
    * teach-ins
    * educational events
    * outreach.

You might want to organize a bus trip to one of the larger regional events, or a
protest at a nuclear power plant that Bechtel built
(http://www.august6.org/whereis_bechtel) or at another nuclear profiteer’s
facility or office (http://www.august6.org/war_profiteers), such as BWX
Technologies, Lockheed Martin or Raytheon.

We especially encourage civil disobedience and nonviolent direct action. Let’s
use our people power to confront key pillars of war and empire -- including
corporations like Bechtel. Be sure to list the activities that you are planning
on the august6.org calendar: http://www.august6.org/add_event.

At the 2004 World Social Forum, Arundhati Roy called on people to identify and
locate the offices of Iraq war profiteers “in every city and every country across
the world” and “go after them.”
(http://www.forumsocialmundial.org.br/dinamic.php?pagina=arundhati_2004_ing) She
continued, “We could shut them down. It’s a question of bringing our collective
wisdom and experience of past struggles to bear on a single target. It’s a
question of the desire to win.”

WE CAN WIN
Recently, the Western Shoshone Nation and its supporters helped to postpone
indefinitely the “Divine Strake” simulated nuclear test explosion at the Nevada
Test Site that could have exposed people who live downwind from a dust cloud of
radioactive particulates. Indigenous resistance in Cochabamba, Bolivia, forced
that government to cancel Bechtel’s contract after the company privatized
Cochabamba’s water systems and sent prices skyrocketing. In San Francisco,
activists helped to defeat Bechtel’s plans to privatize water in their hometown.

WHO WE ARE
This call was initiated by the UFPJ Nuclear Disarmament/Redefining Security
Working Group in collaboration with an ad hoc coalition of local and regional
groups organizing August 6-9 actions.

Our efforts are intended to complement the United Nations’ International Day of
the World’s Indigenous People (Aug. 9 --
http://www.un.org/depts/dhl/indigenous/); Global Call Iraq’s call for civil
resistance to end the Iraq occupation (Aug. 6-9 --
http://www.globalcalliraq.org/); the War Resisters League’s “Stop the Merchants
of Death” campaign and its upcoming conference on war profiteering (Sept. 29-Oct.
2 -- http://www.warresisters.org/smod/smod_hp.shtml), United for Peace and
Justice’s Nuclear Disarmament Campaign
(http://unitedforpeace.org/article.php?type=71&list=type) and No War on Iran
Campaign (http://www.unitedforpeace.org/iran), and growing efforts to link the
anti-nuclear, anti-war, anti-corporate globalization and indigenous rights
movements around common themes. We also hope to build momentum for the September
21-28 week of resistance to end the occupation of Iraq:

Join Tony-nominated actress Kathleen Chalfant, acclaimed

Palestinian-American playwright Betty Shamieh, and

accomplished Israeli-American jazz pianist Liz Magnes for

an evening of culture and performance to benefit the children of Al Rowwad.

Live in Chappaqua, New York at the Horace Greeley Auditorium

For more info go to www.wespac.org

Al-Rowwad Cultural and Theatre Center is dedicated to the training of children in Aida Camp-Bethlehem to help them overcome the repercussions of military occupation.  As an independent, non-governmental organization, the center also offers educational and cultural programs which promote human rights.

In addition to their work in Palestine, Al Rowwad has toured theatres in Europe and North America.  These tours bring to the confined children the invaluable experience of traveling to foreign lands, while educating international audiences about the realities of life in the occupied territories.

"Theater is a powerful tool of expression. It allows the children to manage and release all the anger, frustration, and pressure they live under, and to deliver their message in a peaceful, nonviolent, and civilized way. It also shows them how educating themselves in different fields is vital, and that they can't build their country by fighting in the streets."

policies, and escalating attacks on civil liberties
in the US and throughout the world.
THAW seeks to encourage the growth of a
pro-peace culture.

After their triumphant appearance with the acclaimed BEATLES¹ MAGICAL

As the show's centerpiece, the American release version of The Beatles'
seminal 1965 album RUBBER SOUL will be performed in its entirety!

Sharing the stage with MOSTLY MOPTOP will be members of the HAMPTON CHAMBER
ORCHESTRA, who will provide authentic accompaniment for such Beatles classics
as "Yesterday," "Eleanor Rigby," "She's Leaving Home," and "I Am the Walrus."

The program will be presented at the Patchogue Theater for the Performing
Arts, 71 E. Main St., Patchogue, Long Island, New York, Saturday night,

DONATIONS TO THE HELEN KELLER SERVICES FOR THE BLIND

I met with Matt Campo, Director of Development, Helen Keller National Center, Sands Point, NY. on July 8th, 2005.
What came out of that meeting: I learned about HKNC's school for the blind and deaf. Their equipment
for their students is very expensive (but necessary). Montage Radio Theatre has donated some of its audio plays
to their library. X-Cursion Media will help in anyway I can in audio theatre productions; some of the
will be students at HKNC. If HKNC needs plays and skits for fundraising, Montage Radio Theatre will gladly
donate some of its scripts. The X-Cursion Media website will help to bring awareness to HKNC and encourage
individuals and organizations to make direct dontations to the HKNC. What is the connection for what I do
(audio theatre) to the Helen Keller Services for the Blind? The connection is this: One doesn't need eyes to
enjoy audio (radio) plays. I wanted to support a charity that I feel "connects" with what I do. I choose
the Helen Keller Services for the Blind.

God bless, Bradley Thunderbird Phoenix
Portions of the proceeds from leasing X-Cursion Media scripts will be donated to:
The Helen Keller Services for the Blind.

X-Cursion Media is set up for making donations to the Helen Keller Services for the Blind, but
there are several details that must be worked out. We will keep the visitors to this site informed.
We're going to have specific goals for EACH year.   The X-Cursion Media goal is to raise $4,000.00.
That money will be given to the Helen Keller  National Headquarters in Sands Point, Long Island, NY.
Monthly reports will be given to update everyone  on the count or tally on how much money was raised.
So,  when  someone  does  any  of  the  following:

 1. Leases X-Cursion Media scripts - www.bradleyphoenix.com/lease.html

2. Purchases X-Cursion Media audio plays online - www.bradleyphoenix.com/purchasing.html

3. X-Cursion Media Garage Sales and Auctions - www.bradleyphoenix.com/garage.html

Portions of the proceeds of X-Cursion Media will be DONATED to the Helen Keller Services for the Blind
(more details will follow: addresses, contacts, etc. in the weeks to come).

The goal for the remainder of this year (2006) is: $4,000.00 (four thousand dollars).

Last day of the tally is the last day December 2006.
