CAST CALLS:
ACTORS & THEATRE PEOPLE TO START AN AUDIO THEATRE TROUPE
(This troupe will be based in Suffolk County, Long Island, NY - some
rehearsals will be in North Babylon, NY)
Montage Radio Theatre is looking for actors, actresses, impressionists,
scriptwriters, lighting techs, audio techs, stage manager, sound effects
artist (or foley artist), business manager, publicist, and vice president
to re-form the Montage Radio Theatre. The goal is to perform all over Long
Island and NYC and get paid for it. The actors must know how to perform
at least two accents well. Actors/actresses needed who can perform celebrity
impressions. Actors who have done voice-over work or radio commercials
are a plus. If you're a fan of the Firesign Theatre, that's a plus.
Where will we perform? Live over the radio & internet, in recording
studios, and on stage. We will be performing original scripts (of
contemporary scientific, political, and social issues!) as well as the classics:
Shakespeare, Monty Python, Bob & Ray, Abbott & Costello, H.G. Wells,
etc. (we've done this already and want to continue). Most of our rehearsals
will be done at the Babylon Town Annex in North Babylon, NY under BACCA
(the Babylon Arts Council (631) 661-7558). Montage Radio Theatre is
primarily an audio theatre troupe, but we will do stage theater from
time-to-time. X-Cursion Media is looking for a cast & crew of about 10 -
15 persons.
Actors must be 22 - 70 years old and must have at least
4 years stage experience. Political plays will
be performed from time-to-time. These are anti-war, pro peace, pro ecology,
anti-corporate greed progressive plays
and skits. The original plays will be from various genres: drama,
comedy, science fiction, satire, fantasy, suspense, etc.
Audio techs must be 25 and over and know how to operate mixers, set
up microphones for a band or concert,
perform digital editing, be familiar with sampling machines, and being
a keyboardists or musician would be helpful, etc. THE MORE EXPERIENCE
YOU HAVE...THE BETTER. Must have at least six years experience.
The more experience the better.
The Vice President of the troupe is 2nd in charge and must be a people
person and have experience in theatre
or as a manager. The Vice President will also assist in maintaining
the Montage Radio Theatre website. The
Vice president of the troupe will have to take on the position of business
manager and/or stage manager if there's a
vacancy in those positions.

Most of the public libraries in Suffolk & Nassau County
The Boulton Center for the Arts in Bay Shore, NY
The Babylon Town Annex in North Babylon
Borders Bookstore & Music
Stony Brook University Student Activities Auditorium
Dowling College
Suffolk Community College
** Audio theater performed on stage can be videotaped. These videotapes
can be sold to college
television stations, the general public, etc. Montage Radio Theatre
has some of it's stage performances
on videotape. Audio theatre can interact with many other mediums:
radio, internet, television, IPOD, laptop, etc.
* Jack Ward in Nova Scotia, Canada is airing many of my audio plays and
skits on several radio stations
in that country. The name of Jack's programs are "Sonic Society"
and "Sonic Cinema" (GO TO

Montage Radio Theatre plays air on the radio & internet, they can be
heard all over the world.
With audio theater, you're NOT limited to just a stage in ONE geographic
location...the world is the stage!
